Andrew Carroll

In the words of Tom Brokaw, “Andrew Carroll has given America a priceless treasure.”  He refers to Carroll’s national bestseller, War Letters, which relates real experiences of America’s wars through the actual words of the men and women who witnessed them.  Besides  Behind the Lines and War Letters, Carroll has edited two other New York Times bestsellers, In Our Own Words and Letters of a Nation.  Fascinated by the regular person’s views on the triumphs and tragedies of war, Carroll is the ongoing force behind the Legacy Project, which seeks to collect letters from around the world to study private war experiences from an international perspective.  He also is responsible for bringing back the “Armed Services Editions” (ASEs), which were pocket-sized editions of national bestsellers and literary works handed out to troops stationed abroad during World War II.  Now, Mr. Carroll is one of the spokespersons for the Unmet Needs Program, which gathers donations to support our military familes in need here at home.
