About The VFW Foundation

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that relies on public donations. The VFW and its Foundation have the same commitment: to improve the lives of veterans and service personnel, their families and their communities. The VFW Foundation's mission is to support programs to increase awareness of the sacrifices of America's veterans; to promote citizenship education, volunteerism and positive youth programs; and to provide aid for veterans and their families in need of medical, rehabilitative, educational and employment services.

Charity Navigator, America’s largest independent evaluator of charities, rates the VFW Foundation as four out of four stars. When compared to other charities in America, Charity Navigator’s top rating indicates that the VFW Foundation excels in allocating and growing its finances in the most fiscally responsible way. Out of a possible score of 70, the Charity Navigator rates the VFW Foundation at 64.53—far and away the best rating of any veterans’ organization.

Of the more than 50,000 participating charities, only about 1,500—the members of Independent Charities of America and Local Independent Charities of America—may display the "Best In America" seal of approval. The VFW Foundation is one of those few.

The VFW Foundation is also an approved non-profit organization entitled to receive federal donations through the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), the annual fall fund-raising drive for federal employees.
